Ken becomes President of the Venezuela Information Centre
At Mayor’s Question time yesterday, Ken confirmed that he has been appointed as “President of the Venezuela Information Centre”. This is not a joke, he is seriously using his office and his time to continue to promote President Chavez. Do you think that London’s Mayor should be President of the Venezuela Information Centre?

I wouldn't mind that he was President of Venezuela if it meant he wasn't Mayor of London!

Over at Anyone But Ken, we noticed the same thing. Why would the people of London want their mayor to take on such a role?
Perhaps in his case it will be good for us, as he has less time to dream up new ways of making everyone suffer.

One of your points here is that Ken is involved in international affairs and this is inappropriate.
OK.
Blair was accused this week of "creating a generation of suicide bombers" by his support for Israel in their offensive in Lebanon?
What's your view? How do current international events impact the future security of Londoners?

As Mayor for London - the role is to be proud of London, and protective of Londoners - all Londoners. It is really important to have community cohesion here - there is no point offending different racial groups - see there was a note about this in the Standard again today (19th July) London is a capital and cosmopolitan City. We want a great city where you can feel safe, get around easily, find somewhere to live and be part of the culture of London. That is the Mayor's role.
