Chaos on the tube and bus
Ken has forced us out of our cars into a living oven - Evening Standard reports that it is 52 degrees on the bus and 47 degrees on the tube – When it is cold, the tubes can’t run because it is the wrong type of snow, and now when it is hot the lines buckle and the conditions are unbearable.
The new buses have small windows which you either can’t open or are very difficult to open – at least the old Routemaster had all that space at the back!

“Hermetically sealed cattle pens” is how our underground trains have been described today – is this the living hell we are going to subject our guests for the 2012 Olympics, or will they be whisked around in air conditioned coaches, congesting the roads whilst we suffer underground?

We are not the only country with high temperatures - we must improve the air circulation. What's your view?

    agree!
my family were on the buses today and, WOW were they hot!
and as you say, the Evening Standard measured temperatures of 52 degrees?
But, please tell us, what are your plans for transport in London?

Yes I was on the tube today as usual, just longing for some draughts of air. I understand there are no plans to put in Air Con - even in time for the Olympics, so I dont know what all the visitors to London are going to do during the Olympics.
OK - practical plans - I like the Oyster Card and I like my family having free travel (paid for by the Boroughs). However there are far too many journeys where you have to come into the centre of London. We need to improve routes - we dont need so many buses in Oxford Street, but we do need to improve the routes elsewhere, and improve the interchanges between bus, tube, train, tram and so forth. On main routes we should know how long we have to wait for the next bus - We know where the buses are with Tracking technology - now let the passengers know. Practical solutions - stop traffic constrictions as they hold up everyone, and pollution is worse when the traffic is idling and waiting at long lights.
